Introduction :

Leadership styles are classifications of how a person behaves while directing, motivating, guiding, and managing groups of people. There are many leadership styles. Some of the most widely discussed include: authoritarian (autocratic), participative (democratic), delegative (laissez-faire), transformational, transactional, and situational.

This article depicts some key practical issues which could be addressed to enable us to be good leaders in present times. FAST is an acronym indicated here just as a guideline to the importance of the tenets indicated here in becoming an effective leader.

Fixed & growth Mindset :Someone with a growth mindset views intelligence, abilities, and talents as learnable and capable of improvement through effort. On the other hand, someone with a fixed mindset views those same traits as inherently stable and unchangeable over time.( Catherine cote ,HBR online 10 Mar 2022).

Self awareness throws open the gates of focus on fixed mindset ,and hence is a requirement to transition from fixed to growth mindset.

The leadership circle 360 assessment is a great tool to understand fixed and growth mindsets.

Adaptation: This is a process for which self awareness is a perquisite.

This involves meshing up the self awareness with the environment around us, and to become effective and efficient in our relationship ,team work and collaborative leadership. The strength of adaptability leads to business success ,developing client outcomes and reducing conflict and burnout in organizations .Learning attitude and being perceptive is a good enhancer to adaptation.

Self awareness : this is the very basic need to start evolving as a leader. The calls for deeper exploration to the purpose, and reflections onto the behavior's, assumptions and judgements which have stabilized over time. It throws insights to surprising strengths which have not been utilized at work and relationships , and subconscious derailers which are hidden beneath the ego and remain as blind spot .Vulnerability and acceptance is a pre -requisite to self awareness.

Enneagram is a apt psychometric tool which can enhance self awareness to a great extent also give solutions' to growth and development plans.

Task Vs People balance: The leadership Circle a 360 degree assessment is one of the worlds accurate tools to analyze leadership effectiveness and potential. The concept evolves around the way a leader balances tasks vs people while in action. An optimum balance to tasks and

people management are key to increase organizational capabilities and results by effective leadership. The leadership circle also mentions about the various levels of leadership namely egocentric, reactive, creative, integral and unitive (Bob Anderson and Bill Adams).I will dwell on these stages in a subsequent article and to develop its links and relationship with current scenarios..

Effective organizations have effective leaders as a universal truth, on the corollary effective organizations with not so effective leaders will give tentative fake success to organizations, a temporary stop over, unsustainable in the long run and capable of spiraling down anytime.
